How to get the best picture out of a Sony 55″ HD-TV LCD projection tv.?

on other HD-TV tv’s i see a better picture and i think they custom their tv ‘s. But i don’t get how to use the sharpness and contrast of my tv
can someone help?

    my 52″ hitachi projection TV plays best in Night Mode.
