It all depends on the veiwing distance from your tv to your couch or whatever you use to sit on to watch tv. If it’s 10.5 ft away or less then i would go with the 40, but if its at least 11ft or more from the tv you’re better off going with the 55. Yes the projection tv can be bulky but you don’t want to have something too small. I know many people who purchased tvs that were too small and the wall area around the tv pretty much swallowed the tv, and I know of some who believed that bigger was better and bought a huge screened tv but yet it just seems TOO big for their living room. Size does matter when it comes to HDTV’s but not necessarily the way most people think it does.

I would go with the LCD. Projection TV’s are a bit bulky (for todays standards) and are being phased out.
