I have a 55″ Samsung HDTV with a cracked screen. Can I get it repaired?
The model number is LN52A630M1FXZA. You can still watch the top half of the tv but the bottom half is done for. I want to know if it is repairable or not. If so, how much and where do I need to go? I went to a local tv repair shop and that was a lost cause. I don’t think that guy even knew what I was talking about. I paid 2000 for this from circuit city when they closed so I can’t just call them up, and I don’t have the receipt either.
oops, I am sorry, it is a 52″ not 55″.

You can get it repaired; however with the cost of labor, it will likely cost as much or more than replacing the TV. The screen is the most expensive part and labor isn’t cheap.
The LN52A is an LCD television.
An LCD is a matrix of liquid crystal cells sandwiched between two sheets of polarized coated glass. If those crystal cells are damaged, they are unrepairable. Since the bottom half of your screen is no longer functioning, it means that the thousands of micro connections in the matrix below the crack have been severed completely. There’s absolutely no way to repair that.
You’ll have to replace the entire screen, which — let’s face it — means a new television.
It’s a lost cause.
