I have a mitsubishi 55″ hdtv 3 years old. Will a xbox 360 shorten the life of it ?

    The 360 should not shorten the life on it unless you plan to play on it for days at a time (lol). I don’t know why you might think it would.

    Chances are, what you’ve heard is that video games can damage projection TVs…. Not by shortening the life, but by causing what is known as phosphor burn. This comes from stationary images on the projection tube faces heating up to the point that the phosphors discolor. It doesn’t shorten the life, it just makes the picture look bad.

    If you play a video game on a CRT or plasma set, you should never leave a bright, stationary image on for too long…. say more than an hour, or so, without reducing the brightness and contrast settings to 50% or less.
